# Portfolio position tracker
Tracks stock, funds, crypto asset portfolio including gains / losses, dividends etc using python. Can track any assets listed on [yfinance](https://github.com/ranaroussi/yfinance), [investpy](https://github.com/alvarobartt/investpy) and [binance](https://github.com/sammchardy/python-binance)

## Update 3 August 2024
- Minor fixes for tax jinja
- Added Monthly Summary page showing a monthly summary of portfolio over time

## Update 29 May 2024
- Minor fixes including checks for empty date frames, update_prices, docstrings
- Added ability to edit names in individual stock pages
- Updated tax page to add transactions and formatting
- Better error handling when updating prices
- Cleaned up print and logger statements

## Update 1 September 2023
- Allow deleting row in add trades section
- Fixed crypto issue -> all crypto now base converted to USD and then converted to local currency
- Cleaned up hist_positions function in models

- Moved stock prices away from flatfile to SQL db
- Fixed FX so that portfolio page shows in default currency for user
- Bug fixes

- Added profile page to include ability to change password and FX
- Various bug fixes in routes and updated to more recent version of packages

- SQL database for names and set up ability to check names and currency using various APIs

- Included timezone offset to get right date for update from UTC

## Update 28 April 2021
- Dividends implemented (no check to see if dividend is manually entered vs automatic capture from data sources)
- Added tax calculation to show dividends and capital gains (avg cost method) between two periods
- Set up names file as SQL database instead of pkl file and linked to trades database

## Update 14 April 2021
- Included sums for each group on portfolio display
- Fixed bug where price data would get deleted when user switched
- FX conversion across portfolio (WIP)

## Update 3 March 2021
- Changed menu to have Trades section with add trades and view trades; allow add trades via CSV
- Added separation of portfolio by type of asset (stocks, loan, cash, crypto, fund)
- Dashboard for each stock to include performance over time incl buys, sells, divs; trade history (to be better built out)
- Portfolio broken up into stocks, funds, crypto, loan / cash

- Added trades to SQL dbase linked to user

- Included bootstrap across app
- Added login structure
- Added database migration config (using flask-migrate)

## Update 24 August 2020
- Added dashboard for each stock 
- Added support for crypto with conversion into AUD, EUR, GBP, USD and ZAR (using Binance API)

## Installation
- Clone the repository and install using pipfile (if using pipenv) or requirements.txt (for other virtual environments)
- Required ENV variables (via .env file or any other method):
    FLASK_APP='pftracker.py'
    SECRET_KEY='anylongstringtouseasflasksecretkey'
- If you want to use the crypto pricing functionality, sign up for a Binance account and get the API key / secret and store them in a .env file as follows:
    BINANCE_API_KEY='{your API Key}'
    BINANCE_API_SECRET='{your API Secret}'

## Known bugs
- If quantity / price / fees are blank when providing trade data, portfolio calculations do not work as expected (when using Load Portfolio)

## To be built / implemented
- Monthly view of assets
- Add functionality for dividends to be manually entered (partially built)
- Track dividends switch off- Allow multiple portfolios?
- Include edit / add trades in each stock's section
- Dashboard for each stock to include performance over time incl buys, sells, divs; trade history; current position / p&l; overview position / p&l
- Dashboard for portfolio: change in val over time; overview position / p&l
- allow hiding certain stocks on portfolio + recalculate position
- Automate entering trade data? 
- Consider if Portfolio object uses direct SQL instead of pandas dataframe
