# Grayscale Graphite

A coordinated grayscale desktop theme for Arch Linux and related Linux setups.

Grayscale Graphite uses a compact semantic palette:

- 14 graphite shades, from `graphite_01` to `graphite_14`
- `error_dark`
- `error_light`
- utility swatches `transparent` and `black`

The palette is applied consistently across supported applications by
`change-grayscale-palette.py`. The script provides dry runs, validation,
timestamped backups, and state tracking.

## Important safety note

Several files in `config/` are complete application configuration files, not
small theme fragments. Review them before copying them over an existing setup.

In particular:

- `kdeglobals`
- `starship.toml`
- `rmpc/default.ron`
- `quickshell/.../Appearance.qml`

may replace unrelated local preferences if installed blindly.

## Palette workflow

From the directory containing the palette scripts:

```fish
./change-grayscale-palette.py --dry-run
./change-grayscale-palette.py
```

The first command previews all changes. The second validates, backs up, applies,
and records the new palette state.

The VSCodium comment helper controls typography only:

```fish
./force-vscodium-comments-italic.py
```

It preserves existing foreground colors and only enforces italic comment
styling.

## Updating this repository

Edit and test the live configuration first. Then run:

```fish
./scripts/sync-from-live.fish
git diff --check
git status --short
```
