# newspaper-brief

Mobile-first newspaper-style brief image skill for OpenClaw.

## What it does

`newspaper-brief` turns source content or existing summaries into a newspaper-style mobile long image.

Supported flows:
- raw article / chat log / notes -> summarize -> render
- existing summary / bullets -> render directly

Chinese trigger phrases included in the skill:
- `报纸模式`
- `做成报纸图`
- `按报纸样式输出`

## Files

- `SKILL.md` - OpenClaw skill definition
- `scripts/render_newspaper.py` - render JSON input to HTML and optional PNG
- `examples/ai-interface-sample.json` - sample payload

## Quick start

Render sample HTML + PNG:

```bash
python scripts/render_newspaper.py \
  --input examples/ai-interface-sample.json \
  --html demo.html \
  --normalized demo.normalized.json \
  --png demo.png
```

The script will try to use local Edge / Chrome for headless screenshot export.

## What's new in v1.1

- switched from a rigid two-column layout to a more newspaper-like right rail + wrapped body flow
- body text now continues to use the freed space after the right rail ends
- separators are aware of the right rail, so they do not visually cut through sidebar content
- title handling prefers rewriting to a shorter headline instead of ellipsis truncation
- title size and wrapping were refined for cleaner two-line headlines
- visual alignment between the main body start and the right rail was tuned for a more natural newspaper rhythm

## Notes

- v1.1 is mobile-first only
- newspaper-style floating right rail + content wrap layout
- title handling prefers rewriting to a shorter newspaper headline instead of ellipsis truncation
- section separators avoid visually cutting through the right rail
- bottom whitespace is auto-cropped after PNG export
