Examines the problem-solving process used in engineering and science. Emphasizes the interdisciplinary and international nature of problem-solving and the need to evaluate solutions in terms of a variety of constraints: computational, financial, and social. Questions will not be considered after this date. **Academic Integrity** - Please read IIT's [Academic Honesty Policy](http://www.iit.edu/student_affairs/handbook/information_and_regulations/code_of_academic_honesty.shtml) - Unless otherwise indicated, all work you turn in must be done by **you alone**. - You may not look at the solution of any other student prior to the due date. - All violations will be reported to `academichonesty@iit.edu`. - The first violation will result in a failing grade for that assignment/test. The second will result in a failing grade for the course. **Late Submission Policy** - Late assignments will **not** be accepted, unless: - There is an unavoidable medical, family, or other emergency; **and** - You notify me **prior** to the due date. **Bonus policy**: there are no bonus points! **Objectives:** 1. Form a community of students and faculty in the CS dept. 2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of theses computer science big ideas: Creativity, Abstraction, Data, Algorithms, Programming, Internet, Impact. 3. Apply the ACM Ethics Code to a real world computer science related scenario. 4. Work in small teams on Computer Science deliverables. 5. Communicate Computer Science deliverables. 6. Become aware of on campus resources (CMC, ARC, Study Abroad, Library). **Contribution to general objectives:** a. An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the program's student outcomes and to the discipline. b. An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution. d. An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal. e. An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security, and social issues and responsibilities. f. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences. g.
