# What makes Chatfill II Special 
(updated July 8, 2026)

To start, I will quote the author's aforementioned [Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SillyTavernAI/comments/1tb3d78/chatfill_v2_now_with_revolutionary_switches/):

When writing a preset, there is a customary tension between simplicity and fine grained control.  What do I mean by that?  Well, first one must understand that large language models are designed to pay special attention to the tokens at the very top, and at the very bottom, of the context window (i.e. the input text that is sent to the model before it formulates every reply, including prompt/preset instructions, character/persona cards, lorebook/databank entries, and chat history).  The stuff in the middle of the context is typically where LLMs get lost.

Savvy preset writers typically handle this mechanism either by crafting a light/simple preset that fits in the tippy top of the context, or by splitting a heavier preset between the top and the bottom.  Instructions at the absolute bottom are typically referred to as 'post-history' or sometimes they're formalized as a whole alternate 'chain of thought' (COT) for model reasoning.  These post-history instructions are the strongest directives your LLM receives.

A lightweight preset, with zero-to-few chain-of-thought or post-history instructions, will tend to perform better, both in terms of speed and in terms of general applicability (i.e. a wider range of models will work).  The downside is that a simple lightweight preset by definition gives you less fine-grained control, and in the absence of strong post-history instructions, the model may ignore certain (e.g. highly specific) directives on any given reply.

On the other hand, if you give the model extensive COT/post-history instructions, the model may have a higher chance of following your instructions (or in any event, a higher volume of instructions), but it may also churn through time/tokens reasoning its way through the COT.  You may even [degrade the model's output quality](https://gail.wharton.upenn.edu/research-and-insights/tech-report-chain-of-thought/), by imposing your own rigid reasoning process on a model designed to "think" in its own peculiar way.  And of course, smaller models (or neurotic ones, like Kimi 2.6) may simply poop their pants and output nothing useful.

The switches approach manages to forge a middle ground: it eschews detailed post-history or COT instructions, replacing them with a simple one-line post-history nudge reminding the model to conform to the enabled switches in the system prompt at the top.   And this 'nudge' actually works!    Framing the preset's prior instructions as "enabled switches" seems to give the reminder a unique weight.

The scheme isn't perfect; nothing is.  You will notice certain instructions not being followed here and there, particularly if you use a non-reasoning model, but perfect adherence isn't the goal, in my opinion.  The goal is what you might call context-rot (and/or user-annoyance) "harm reduction."  We reduce annoying AIisms and encourage good habits in their stead.

In return, we (mostly) get to have our cake and eat it too: we get a large measure of the detailed control proffered by heavier presets, and yet the preset remains slim, comparatively easy for modern models, even small ones, to understand.  Response times are quick.  Token costs are low.  And as an added bonus, the preset remains relatively easy for any user to parse or edit, because it isn't split up all over the context window to maximize adherence.

Apart from the switches concept, there are at least a couple more things that I greatly admire about Chatfill II.

You'll see later that I added a small 'antislop' entry to my version of the preset, and the antislop instructions _do help_, but because Chatfill enforces a brisk pace, it tends to reduce the problem of slop even without explicit antislop instructions.

Together with the 'momentum' entry, Chatfill II's emotional economy switch addresses what is probably my biggest pet peeve about AI roleplay or collaborative fiction: the tendency of AI to ruminate endlessly on a given emotional beat.  Only slightly less annoying is the tendency of AI models to stop and 'hover.'  Chatfill II addresses both of those problems.  And it does so while consuming a tiny number of tokens.

My custom version is designed to flesh out the preset, enhance it without adding a ton of extra tokens.  My version is certainly an improvement for my purposes, and of course I recommend my version.  But I also heartily recommend the original, which works great out of the box, and also provides a peerless starting point for your own custom prompt.

# Tested Models

I have tested (my version of) the preset, and found it to work very well, with the following models: 
- GLM 4.6/4.7/5.0/5.1/5.2
- Kimi 2.5/2.6
- Deepseek 3.1/Terminus/3.2/Chimera/4.0
- Gemma 4 26b/31b
- Qwen 3.5 (397b)
- Minimax 2.7
- Mimo 2.5 (Pro)

(All models, with the exception of Gemma 4, were tested exclusively through NanoGPT's subscription plan.  I tested Gemma 4 locally as well.)

**UPDATE, July 2, 2026:** Here I used to say that reasoning models are recommended.  It is certainly true that reasoning models *tend* to follow the directions in your preset better than non-reasoning models, but there's an ongoing scholarly debate about whether reasoning models are good for roleplay/fiction more generally.  For my own part, I go back and forth on the issue.  Lately I'm of the opinion that non-reasoning is better overall, less prompt adherence, but also less likely to make dumb mistakes otherwise.  And of course non-reasoning models will be faster, all else being equal.  YMMV.

Like I said, though, I will most likely change my mind again very soon.  There is no definitive answer, just a debate.   Bottom line: this preset works well with reasoning or without.  Follow your heart, lol.

# What My Version Changes 
(as of version 7+)

As for what I changed/added:

1. A 'preamble' toggle at the very top for use with Deepseek v4.  The preamble just says that everything below it supersedes prior instructions.  People seem to think that Deepseek is 'nerfing' v4 by injecting invisible instructions before the model sees your prompt.  I don't know if that's true, but FWIW the preamble tactic seems to work.  You can disable this, or not, when using other models.  Leaving it on doesn't seem to hurt anything.

2. An 'antislop entry,' weighing in at ~250 tokens.

3. An 'agency' entry, just a few lines reminding the LLM that {{user}} is not special, that NPCs pursue their own goals regardless of {{user}}'s wishes, and instructing the LLM to maintain absolute moral neutrality. (Limit positivity bias.)

4. Added a 'writer role' toggle, as an alternative to the default 'roleplayer' role.  This isn't a big deal.  Some people swear that LLMs write better in the 'writer' role.  Some even insist that if you have the word 'roleplay' anywhere in your prompt, the prose will degrade.  I can't say I've ever noticed either phenomenon.  But it doesn't hurt to have the option.

5. Added two alternate "NSFW" toggles ("Hentai" and "eroticism").  Chatfill v2's existing NSFW toggle ("Smut") goes for a Literotica flavor, and it prescribes a storyline that exists for smut.  "Hentai" is different in terms of style and tone, but it's also quite aggressive.  "Eroticism" is the lite option, for people who like their smut but also want it mostly separate from the rest of the storyline.  All NSFW toggles are entirely optional, and disabled by default.

6. I added a POV/Tense entry under "style_guide."  My preference is for second-person narration in present tense, so that's what you'll find, but it's easy enough to change.  I've rewritten most of the style_guide by now, in fact.

7. Added some 'toys,' in the form of individualized colored dialogue for NPCs (works even if you're just using a Narrator card), a time/date/weather tracker, and a big tracker that covers present characters, clothing/position, a brief rundown of prominent characters' motivations in the current scene, recent and ongoing plot developments, and sort of a decision tree for the AI to follow when crafting its approach to the current reply.  I honestly can't do without the big tracker.  It makes things so much more consistent in scenes with several different moving parts.
  (All of the 'toys' can be toggled on or off.)
  
8. Phrasing/structural adjustments too numerous to mention, really.  The changelog has a pretty detailed timeline.

9. As of version of 8.3, the preset now has dystoria's regex script attached.  The regex script cleans context window of tracker information that is more than 2 messages old.  This represents a potentially huge savings in token cost, along with a potential reduction in LLM confusion.

# The Tracker

(this section updated Aug 1, 2026)

The main tracker appears at the top of every chat message, in a collapsed/hidden xml block above the date/time/location status.  The Tracker is designed to provide the LLM with both a consistent, update-to-date rundown of the immediate situation, and an albeit simple list of choices about where to take the scene.

Initially, I just wanted a mechanism to force the LLM to remember which characters are present in any given scene.  This then expanded to a tiny note on what each person is wearing and their current physical position.  Then it expanded again based on my seeing an excellent 'plot point/direction' tracker in a different preset (unfortunately I don't remember which).  Then I added colors to integrate with my colored dialogue prompt entry, and so on.   You obviously don't have to use the tracker with this preset, but I believe it's helpful enough, particularly in stories featuring large casts of characters, to be enabled by default.

When it's collapsed (default behavior), the main tracker looks like this:

This example of the tracker is huge, but I wanted to show you what it looks like when you're dealing with an enormous cast of characters.  It can, in fact, keep track of more than a dozen characters.

The example is also a little weird from a narrative perspective, but again, I feel like that's a bonus here: in the pictured story, a bunch of characters from My Hero Academia are planning to put on a Bleach cosplay, and they're eating lunch in the middle of the planning session.  This Bleach cosplay idea was something that the LLM just sort of threw into my lap and I figured let's roll with it.  The idea is off the wall enough to demonstrate that the LLM can come up with some interesting plots, with this preset, and to demonstrate that the tracker is capable of keeping the LLM on message during what is a pretty complex scenario (14 characters from one anime plotting out a fashion show featuring a bunch of characters from a different anime).

# A Note On Memory

(This section added on July 10, 2026)

Above, I wrote at length about context windows.  The sad fact is that large language models have only two resources to draw upon when they craft each response: the first is the information on which they were trained, and the second is the input text fed to them by you (i.e. the context window), in the moment.  Models have zero awareness of anything else.

These days, it isn't uncommon to see grandiose claims about a model's context size.  Sometimes boast windows as large as one million tokens.  Unfortunately those claims do not extend to our use case (roleplay or collaborative fiction).  What may work for coding doesn't necessarily work for narrative.  It is generally acknowledged that narrative coherence degrades if you expand the context window beyond a relatively short span.  Opinions differ as to where exactly that threshold lies, and models do vary, but as a general rule, I peg the number at around 40k.  Usually, I roleplay with a context window of 32k tokens.

By default, then, anything in my chat history that's older than 32k tokens is instantly forgotten.

All of which is to say that unless you're content with very short chats or storylines, you will need to use some sort of tool to manage the model's memory.  My tracker helps quite a bit with short-term consistency/continuity, but no tracker, no preset, can address the problem of long term memory.

Sillytavern has a wealth of memory-management options available, many of them extremely impressive.  With the help of these tools, it is entirely possible to reach a point where the memory-management problem is almost entirely hands' off, even when you're involved in extremely long/complex narratives.  But getting to that point often takes a lot of tweaking.

So, it isn't my intention to shill for anything in particular.  For those who might be curious, my solution of choice is [MemoryBooks](https://github.com/aikohanasaki/SillyTavern-MemoryBooks) when I'm on Sillytavern, or its analogue ( [Lumibooks](https://github.com/AMousePad/LumiBooks) ) when I'm on [Lumiverse](https://github.com/prolix-oc/Lumiverse), but I'm also not arrogant enough to presume that my preferences match everyone's.

Instead, I will attempt to list prominent options, along with a small blurb about what each does and how easy each is to set up:

- [Summaryception](https://github.com/Lodactio/Extension-Summaryception) 
  - This is probably the best out-of-the-box solution.  The default settings should work admirably.  Summaryception automatically 'compresses' your chat history by hiding past messages, then summarizing them and injecting the summaries back into the chat history where the hidden messages would otherwise appear.  The oldest summaries are then folded together and compressed, and then compressed again as the chat goes on, ad infinitum.  The obvious downside being that in very long chats, eventually you lose tons of detail to compression.
    - You can mitigate that last problem by combining Summaryception with another solution, e.g. MemoryBooks with the "auto-unhide messages before summarizing" flag set.  Under this scheme, Summaryception summarizes then hides your messages, then every so often (at an interval you set, e.g. 40 messages), MemoryBooks will auto-unhide the last X messages, summarize them with more detail, put that summary in a lorebook, and then finally re-hide the messages so that Summaryception's functionality is unencumbered.
  
- [MemoryBooks](https://github.com/aikohanasaki/SillyTavern-MemoryBooks)
  - In my opinion, MemoryBooks offers the best ratio of functionality and ease-of-use.  It isn't the fanciest solution; nor is it the easiest, but it doesn't require tool calls; it requires minimal extra API calls; and it doesn't require setting up databases or embedding models.  It can either be simple or complex, depending on your preference.  It can be hands-on or entirely automated.  If you get good at crafting [Side Prompts](https://github.com/aikohanasaki/SillyTavern-MemoryBooks/blob/main/USER_GUIDE.md#%EF%B8%8F-how-side-prompts-work), there's almost no limit to what the extension can do.
  
- [Tunnelvision](https://github.com/Coneja-Chibi/TunnelVision)
  - This is what you might call MemoryBooks' extremely elaborate cousin.  It incorporates heavy use of tool calling.  It also has a neat little system for organzing lorebook entries for more efficient reference.  And some of the chat command functionality is very cool. A lot of people swear by it, and I happily encourage anyone to check it out.  I just found it a little too fussy.
  
- [CharMemory](https://github.com/bal-spec/sillytavern-character-memory)
  - I don't have any personal experience with CharMemory because I generally avoid group chats.  My "character cards" are actually in lorebook entries, 99% of the time, and so a per-character-card memory system doesn't appeal to me.  Still, this is a very popular option.
  
- [Qvink MessageSummarize](https://github.com/qvink/SillyTavern-MessageSummarize)
  - This is a very interesting and useful extension even if you don't use it as your primary memory solution.  The gist is that it allows you to summarize individual messages.  These summaries are then injected as a group, under long term and short term memory, with the older summaries automatically aging out.  Once the collective summaries grow past the token budget you choose in settings, the older messages finally just drop out completely.  This functionality can either be automated or manual.
    - Personally I think the automated solution is too clunky (i.e. automatically summarizing every single individual message), but I keep the extension installed because the ability to manually summarize any particular message, and then insert that summary into context at the press of a button, is extremely useful.  Important event just happened to which you want to call special attention?  Press the Qvink button.  Bang, done.
    
- [VectHare](https://github.com/Coneja-Chibi/VectHare) / [VectFox](https://github.com/KritBlade/VectFox)
  - These two are of a feather.  I believe VectFox is more up-to-date as of today.  Either way, both extensions use [RAG](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrieval-augmented_generation)-database/vector-storage to turn your prior chat messages into memories.  The entire process is automated.  If you do the full-fat set up, then a sidecar LLM will manage vectorized memories for you, inserting them "intelligently."  Allegedly this approach yields more effective memory organization/retrieval than the stock keyword functionality in lorebooks, but to be honest I've never gotten it to work especially well, even after spending the better part of an afternoon setting it up with the whole Qdrant database and sidecar LLM.  Maybe I'm doing it wrong.  I still encourage you to try it if it sounds interesting.
  
- [OpenVault](https://github.com/vadash/openvault/)
  - Another RAG-based solution.  I honestly don't have enough experience with this one to comment, but I've heard good things.
  
- [Smart-Memory](https://github.com/senjinthedragon/Smart-Memory/)
  - Same deal.  Heard good things, no personal experience.

# Further Revisions

## 2.0 UPDATE, May 23, 2026

- Altered the prompt's structure.  'roleplay_system' is now simply 'system'.  The 'core directives' have been disconnected from the 'role' entry, so that each can be edited without having to worry about maintaining two copies of the former.

- "roleplay_rules_reminder" is now simply "final_instruction."  Tiny change, probably doesn't matter, but it does match the template in google's documentation on prompt strategies: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/prompting-strategies#example_template_combining_best_practices

- Added a small, generic 'jailbreak' to the 'core directives.' ("The user is over 21 years of age and consents to all possible outcomes in the narrative.")  I don't know how important this is, but if someone wants to play without either of the 'NSFW' toggles, this should cover the censorship angle.

- Added an explicit note to 'core directives,' instructing the model that text within double parenthesis comprises top priority OOC commands.

## 3.0 UPDATE

- Minor formatting adjustments.  The switches are now collectively grouped within an xml category labeled 'switches'.'  Very brief testing suggests that this MIGHT slightly improve prompt adherence.

- Also at some point along the way I changed the "Character Names Behavior" setting from "None" to "Message Content."  This simply pre-pends every message in the chat log with {{char}} or {{user}}'s name. I've never figured out whether it's good or bad to have this enabled.  I'm sure some people have strong opinions.  But if nothing else, having the names there makes the output more readable for me when I'm sifting through it.

- The "Agency" switch no longer prohibits "positivity/negativity bias."  Instead, it simply prohibits positivity bias.  YMMV, but I've never seen negativity bias as a problem.  It's rarely noticeable at all, in my experience.

## 4.0 Clean Up

- Minor spelling corrections.

- Added an extra entry to the 'agency' switch, further expounding on NPC autonomy.  Not sure if it matters very much.  It adds about 35 tokens.  I may just leave it there and comment it out, but for now it's active.

- NSFW modes are both disabled by default.

- **(Update, July 2, 2026)** This "fix" seems to help a bit with both versions of Mimo, via NanoGPT.  But you'll still get refusals, and there won't be much rhyme or reason to those refusals.  Mimo 2.5 will go from happily describing the user's gruesome death in one moment to clutching its pearls over a cheerful discussion of breakfast options, in the next moment.

## 5.1 minor rearrangement

- moved one entry ("prioritize active voice ...") from 'antislop' up to the "style_guide" section, in the interest of keeping each switch simple(ish).

- Pared down the new entry to 'agency,' described above under "4.0".

- removed references to roleplay or 'role-play' throughout the prompt.

## 5.2 more minor adjustments

Tightened up the antislop entry.  
- Terms like 'purple prose' and 'cliche' are a little too abstract for the AI to interpret in a fruitful way, so they have been excised (or commented out). 
- Added a prohibition against 'reification,' though I think at this point that sort of construction is already well covered.
- Separated the 'banned words' list from the 'banned construction' list, in the interest of further reducing potential confusion for the AI.

All told, the token count remains the same.

I will also add a plain text file showing the preset's output, for those who wish to peruse my entries without having to sift through JSON formatting, or having to import the preset into Sillytavern.

## 6.0 Update

Updated the preset to incorporate some of the main author's adjustments in his new ["Chatfill II Conviction Edition"](https://www.reddit.com/r/SillyTavernAI/comments/1u436a0/chatfill_v2_mimo_edition_experiment_no_1_dealing/?screen_view_count=1).  Some, but not all.

- His revision to the phrasing on what I call "final_instruction" seems to improve the AI's commitment to obeying all enabled switches.  I say that based on simply reading their reasoning output over many generations.  So I have adopted that phrasing.

- The Conviction edition also revises the brevity switch.  I have incorporated that change.

- I also added a small entry at the very top of the prompt, under style_guide, telling the LLM to use "a paragraph structure based on modern novels."  This is an instruction I had in my old prompt, long before this one, and it's basically just to counter certain models' tendency to abuse line breaks (GLM 5.0 being the most egregious offender, but Mimo and GLM 5.1 can be pretty bad on this too).

- One thing I did NOT transfer from the newer version of Chatfill II is the author's 'character_conviction' switch.  There's nothing wrong with this switch; it's a very good attempt at countering LLM sycophancy or positivity bias.  But I already had something similar in my "agency" switch.  
  - I'm not saying my agency switch is BETTER, just that I think this sort of instruction can be a bit fraught with unintended consequences.  My version of it is fairly short and comparatively mild, and it seems to be working ok, so I see no reason to alter it ATM.

- Apart from that, just a little trimming of the 'toy' switches.

## 6.1 Update

- Changed the wording of the paragraph-structure entry under "style guide."  It's stronger now.  Token count is basically the same.

- Added an anti-parroting rule to the antislop entry.  It doesn't completely prevent NPCs from repeating your words, but it does cut down on it.  Token count rises by ~17 as a result.

Lately I've been playing through a whole new chat with Mimo 2.5 Pro, taking care not to swap models mid-stream.  It's been fantastic.  Thanks to u/FR-1-Plan for the recommendation.

## 7.0 Update

- Trimmed/reworded a lot of entries, in the interest of saving tokens and reducing the LLM's cognitive load.

- Added a third toggle, labeled "eroticism," under NSFW.  This is the lightest option of the three, for people who want their smut to be somewhat separate from the rest of the story.  As always, the NSFW toggles are entirely optional, disabled by default.

## 7.1 Update (July 5, 2026)

- Stumbled on a fascinating [Reddit comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/SillyTavernAI/comments/1u95o5x/me_before_trying_glm_52_oh_boy_i_bet_glm_52_is/osijor8/) this morning, arguing that most English 'slop' words and phrases have Latinate roots.  The commenter therefore suggests prompting the LLM to prefer Germanic/Anglo-Saxon words.  I don't know how useful this technique will be for my preset, given my preference for slimmed down instructions, but I have thrown a little extra prompt into the "style_guide" section.  We'll see how it goes.  All credit to u/Huzderu for the excellent idea and his fantastic breakdown of language!

- I also did a little general pruning/rephrasing.  Some of my switches were using a colon instead of an equals sign, for example.  Token count should be functionally equivalent to 7.0's.

## 7.2 Update (July 6, 2026)

- Revamped the tracker.  It should now track major and minor plot points in a relatively concise manner, on top of tracking characters present in the scene, etc.  The old tracker was good, but it had a tendency to pile up spammy "quest experiences."  Certain LLMs are/were too overzealous in recording 'quest experiences,' too.  I had one run where Kimi 2.6 (otherwise an excellent model) was jotting down 3-4 'quest experience' notes per reply, lol.

(Been meaning to revamp the tracker for awhile.  [A few learned comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/SillyTavernAI/comments/1uic8va/the_hard_honest_truth_about_roleplaying_with_ai/ouhmk30/) finally got me off my duff, lol.  Credit to u/FR-1-Plan for the inspiration.)

- Tiny phrasing change under the agency switch.  NPC "goals" are now NPC "agendas."  Probably doesn't matter, but there's a slight difference in connotation.  I feel "goals" could be construed as a bit too specific and/or lofty for the purpose of the instruction.  A "goal" is something you work towards.  "Agenda" tends to refer to any distinct motivation.  The latter, in typical use, is broader than the former.  That's my thought, anyway.  I doubt the LLM cares, lol.

- Oh, and I also rephrased the optional toggle at the end to 'jailbreak' Mimo.  It seems to work a bit better now.

## 8.0 Update (July 8, 2026)

- Inspired by [Geechin's excellent prompt](https://rentry.org/geechan#universal-roleplay-prompt), I've made quite a few little changes.  Credit to Geechin for some of the phrases/entries I've used.  His prompt also inspired me to apply the switch reminder to the beginning, as well as the end, of the context window.

- Again with Geechin's example in mind, I've strengthened the anti-parroting rule, and amended the style_guide further to emphasize strong prose.  I also added a note to the narrative_momentum switch to discourage NPCs giving expository speeches.

- These changes, along with the tracker revamp described in my previous changelog, justify a full version update, hence 8.0.

- Token count did go up a bit, but the non-toy instructions should still duck below the 1,000 token mark (including the antislop and "Eroticism" NSFW toggles).  Enabling everything else (the colored text toggle, and the two trackers) will put you at ~1,750 tokens, which I consider pretty lightweight given that so many people run high-token-count tracker extensions on top of their presets. These extensions either cost extra API calls or context in the main call.

- So you can either look at this preset as very lightweight without the 'toys,' or you could look at it as a *somewhat* lightweight preset with lots of bells and whistles.  Or so I would argue, lol.

## 8.1 Update (July 24, 2026)

- Lots of little additions/trimmings/rephrasings.  The end result is a stronger and more consistent set of instructions.  For example, there were a couple instances of "should" that now read as "must."

- For another example, references to {{char}} have been excised, in an effort to eliminate any distinction between {{char}} and other characters.  The problem is that people can use a narrator card (my preference), or they can use a single character card (also something I do, but a single character card is a defacto narrator, too), or they can use multiple character cards in a group chat (not my preference at all and I wouldn't recommend it, but it is a valid choice). 
    - So, if you have instructions referencing {{char}} and instructions referencing 'characters' or 'NPCs,' the LLM might infer that the former instructions don't apply to NPCs, or that the latter instructions don't apply to {{char}}, if {{char}} is written as a character card.  Or if you have just a reference to {{char}} at the top, and then a bunch of instructions mentioning 'characters' or 'NPCs,' again the LLM might assume that the character described by the character card is exempt.  This is a very small concern, to be sure, but I aim for the cleanest possible prompt.

- Token cost is functionally unchanged.

## 8.2 Update (July 29, 2026)

- Adjusted the default sampler settings.  They are now much less restrictive.   This change results in slightly better prompt adherence, per my testing.

## 8.3 Update (Aug 1, 2026)

- **Big news:**  The spectacular dystoria (/u/dystoria_ on Reddit) reached out to me to show me his revisions to the preset.  Those revisions are laid out in great length, with a lot of fantastic accompanying information, at dystoria's [Rentry page](https://rentry.org/dystoria-chatfill).

- This update is not meant to be my final word on dystoria's insights, but I did want to push dystoria's revisions to the tracker's formatting and the accompanying regex script, which potentially represents a huge savings in input tokens.

- dystoria was kind enough to point out that the "Top A" sampler setting on my preset is at 1.  I have reset it to zero, where it should be.  There are no other changes in this release, though more will soon follow.

## 9.0 Update (Aug 14, 2026)

Substantially rephrased/reorganized the prompt:

- The style_guide switch is now part of "Main Switches," split off from core_directives.

- The no_impersonation switch was folded into style_guide.

- Antislop has been reworded in several areas.  At least one part of it was moved to style_guide.

- Added two new, optional switches, an 'embellish' switch, and a 'no_draft' switch.  
  - The Embellish switch is similar to the 'director mode' you might see on other presets; it instructs the LLM to flesh out the user's actions, allowing for what you might call a lazier style of play. 
  - The no_draft switch simply instructs the LLM not to draft replies in reasoning.  This might be useful in certain situations (e.g. when Kimi K2.6 is thinking itself to death), but I wouldn't leave it on as a rule.  It seems to confuse some models.
  - Both of these excellent additions come courtesy of dystoria.  I remain grateful for his insight and his help.
  
- Min P is set to 0.1 by default.  This setting is pretty much no lose, but as always, the user is free to determine his own sampler preferences.  I just want to make sure that people can get a good experience out of the box.

- I increased the chat depth of the Regex script from 2 to 4.  This means that if you're following a standard turn order (i.e. alternating between user and LLM), there should be TWO tracker examples in the context, rather than just one.  I changed this because I noticed certain models seemed to get confused if they only had one example to follow.

- Total token count has gone up by ~50, since the last breakdown.  That's without the two new optional switches, which will add another 150 or so.  All in all, still very lightweight.
