# Open Metal Fest Suite

Open Metal Fest Suite is an open-source platform for building mobile applications for metal festivals and music events.

The project provides a proven framework for festival discovery, scheduling, notifications, rankings, artist information, and attendee engagement across both iOS and Android.

The suite was originally developed to power the 70K Bands application for the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise and has evolved into a reusable platform that can support multiple festivals.

### Design Philosophy

Most festival-specific behavior is driven by data files and configuration rather than application code.

## Open Source

Open Metal Fest Suite is released under the GPL license.

Developers are encouraged to:

- Submit bug fixes and enhancements
- Help support existing festivals
- Work with the project to add support for new festivals

While independent forks are permitted under the GPL license, collaboration through the primary Open Metal Fest Suite repository is strongly encouraged.

The platform is under active development, and maintaining a shared codebase helps ensure that improvements, bug fixes, and new features benefit the entire metal festival community.

If you are interested in supporting a new festival, please reach out before creating a separate implementation. In most cases, adding support through the main project will result in less duplicated effort and a better experience for festival organizers and attendees alike. The main obstacle to supporting new festivals is lineup and schedule data, not the actual code.
