# 🌱 Smart Fertilizer Recommendation System

An intelligent web application that provides **dynamic, real-time fertilizer recommendations** to farmers.  
This tool leverages **machine learning** and **live weather data** to promote sustainable and efficient agricultural practices.

- 🧠 **ML-Powered Recommendations**: Uses a `RandomForestClassifier` to predict the optimal fertilizer based on multiple inputs, moving beyond static rules.  
- 🌦️ **Live Weather Integration**: Fetches a 5-day forecast from the **Tomorrow.io API** to adapt recommendations to upcoming weather conditions.  
- 📍 **Dual Location Input**: Auto-detects location via IP and allows manual input for flexibility.  
- 🌱 **Crop Stage Specificity**: Considers crop growth stage (Seedling, Vegetative, Flowering) for precision in nutrient management.  
- 📝 **Dynamic Weather Advice**: Offers actionable tips (e.g., avoid fertilizing before heavy rain, apply during cooler times).  
- 🖥️ **Interactive Web UI**: Built with **Gradio** for a clean, responsive interface accessible on desktop and mobile.

## 🔧 How It Works

1. **User Input**: Farmers enter soil type, crop, and growth stage via the Gradio interface. Location is auto-detected but can be entered manually.  
2. **Data Collection**: The system fetches the **5-day weather forecast** for the given location.  
3. **ML Prediction**: Inputs and processed weather data are fed into a pre-trained **scikit-learn model**.  
4. **Recommendation Generation**: The model predicts the most suitable fertilizer plan and maps it to detailed advice.  
5. **Display**: Final recommendations (fertilizer name, application pattern, and duration) plus weather-based advice are shown in the UI.

## 🚀 Setup and Installation

### 1. Clone the Repository
```bash
git clone https://github.com/Neha140506/fertilizer-recommendation.git
cd fertilizer-recommendation
```

### 2. Create and Activate Virtual Environment
```bash
python -m venv venv
# Activate the virtual environment
venv\Scripts\activate      # On Windows
```

### 3. Install Dependencies
```bash
pip install -r requirements.txt
```

### 4. Get API Key
- Sign up at [Tomorrow.io](https://www.tomorrow.io/)  
- Generate your free API key

### 5. Configure API Key
Open **`app.py`** and replace:
```python
API_KEY = "API_KEY"
```

### 6. Run the Application
```bash
python app.py
```

Visit **http://127.0.0.1:7860** to access the app. 🎉
