# zsh-claude-enhancer

A zsh plugin that transforms natural language into shell commands using Claude Code.

## Prerequisites

- [zsh](https://www.zsh.org)
- [claude-code](https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code)

## Installation

<details>

Add this to your `.zsh_plugins.txt`:

```
vnva/zsh-claude-enhancer
```

Then reload antidote:

```bash
antidote load
```

Clone this repository into your Oh My Zsh custom plugins directory:

```bash
git clone https://github.com/vnva/zsh-claude-enhancer ${ZSH_CUSTOM:-~/.oh-my-zsh/custom}/plugins/zsh-claude-enhancer
```

Add the plugin to your `.zshrc`:

```bash
plugins=(... zsh-claude-enhancer)
```

Restart your shell:

```bash
source ~/.zshrc
```

## Configuration

Configure the plugin by setting environment variables in your `.zshrc`:

```bash
# Optional: Choose Claude model (default: "sonnet")
export ZSH_CLAUDE_ENHANCER_MODEL="sonnet"  # or "opus"

# Optional: Custom keybinding (default: Alt+\)
export ZSH_CLAUDE_ENHANCER_KEYBINDING="^[\\"
```

### Model Options

- `sonnet` - default, faster
- `opus` - more powerful

### Keybinding

The default keybinding is `Alt+\`. Common keybinding formats:

- `^[\` - Alt+\ (default)
- `^[a` - Alt+a
- `^xa` - Ctrl+x, a

## Usage

1. Type a natural language description in your terminal
2. Press `Alt+\` (or your configured keybinding)
3. The plugin generates the corresponding shell command
4. Press Enter to execute or edit as needed

### Examples

```
> write a command to fix the time in a dual-boot setup
> timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 --adjust-system-clock
```

```
> find . -name "*.ts", but large then 1Mb
> find . -name "*.ts" -size +1M
```

## How It Works

The plugin captures text from the zsh line buffer, sends it to Claude using the `claude` CLI command with a specialized system prompt, and replaces the buffer with the generated shell command.

## Troubleshooting

### "claude command not found"

Install Claude Code CLI following the [guide](https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code).

### No output from Claude

Check that:
- The `claude` command works correctly (try `claude -p "test"`)
- You have internet connectivity
- You are authenticated with Claude Code CLI

### Keybinding not working

Try a different keybinding. Some terminal emulators intercept certain key combinations.
