# bmad-extn

This repository is a basic demonstration of extending the [BMAD-METHOD™ (Breakthrough Method of Agile AI-Driven Development)](https://github.com/bmad-code-org/BMAD-METHOD) framework. The BMAD-METHOD™ offers a surprisingly simple, yet highly innovative solution to agentic development. This [article](https://medium.com/@visrow/what-is-bmad-method-a-simple-guide-to-the-future-of-ai-driven-development-412274f91419) provides a deep dive into my experiments with the BMAD method, explaining how it gave me a structured, persona-based workflow for building intelligent AI agents. I will walk through the core concepts and show you how to set up your first BMAD project.

The B-MAD framework is designed to be extensible, and adding new, specialized agents is a great way to expand its capabilities. Based on the typical roles within a software development or IT team, here are a few other agents you could add to the framework, along with a brief explanation of their purpose.

## 1. Operations & DevOps Agent (`ops.md`)
This agent focuses on deployment, infrastructure, and monitoring. It bridges the gap between development and live environments, ensuring that the code is not only functional but also scalable and reliable.

**Role:** Infrastructure Architect & DevOps Engineer  
**Purpose:** Automate deployment workflows, manage cloud resources, and proactively identify performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.

**Commands:**
- \*deploy-to-stage {version}: Execute a deployment to the staging environment.
- \*monitor-performance: Analyze application logs and metrics to identify and report on performance issues.
- \*check-compliance {app}: Run a security and compliance checklist against a deployed application.
- \*rollback: Revert to the last stable deployment version.

## 2. UX/UI Designer Agent (`ux.md`)
This agent focuses on the user experience and interface, ensuring the application is intuitive and visually appealing. It works alongside the PM and Dev agents.

**Role:** User Experience & Interface Specialist  
**Purpose:** Create wireframes, design mockups, and generate HTML/CSS templates based on user stories and requirements.

**Commands:**
- \*create-wireframe {story}: Generate a low-fidelity wireframe based on a given user story.
- \*design-component {component}: Design a specific UI component and provide the CSS and HTML.
- \*validate-design {design}: Review a design against accessibility guidelines and UX best practices.
- \*generate-html {design}: Convert a design concept into functional, styled HTML and CSS.

## 3. Technical Writer Agent (`tech-writer.md`)
This agent's sole purpose is to create and maintain documentation, ensuring the project's knowledge base is always up-to-date and easily understood.

**Role:** Documentation & Knowledge Base Specialist  
**Purpose:** Draft user manuals, API documentation, and tutorials. It works by ingesting code and other project documents to automatically generate or update relevant content.

**Commands:**
- \*document-feature {feature}: Generate a detailed user guide for a new feature.
- \*update-api-docs {files}: Scan new or modified code files to update API documentation.
- \*create-tutorial {topic}: Write a step-by-step tutorial based on a specified topic or task.
- \*review-doc {file}: Read a document and check it for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.

## 4. Code Security Agent (`sec.md`)
This agent is an expert in security, proactively scanning for vulnerabilities and ensuring that the codebase adheres to security best practices.

**Role:** Application Security Auditor  
**Purpose:** Identify security flaws, potential exploits, and common vulnerabilities in the code and architecture.

**Commands:**
- \*scan-codebase: Run a static analysis on the codebase to find common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS).
- \*review-dependency {lib}: Check a new library or package for known security risks.
- \*propose-fix {vulnerability}: Suggest a code change to patch a detected vulnerability.
- \*check-best-practices: Review a file to ensure it follows common security practices.
