## 🎉 What is Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest is a _month-long open-source celebration_ organized every October by _DigitalOcean_ (with community sponsors).  
It encourages developers, designers, writers, and everyone in tech to contribute to _open-source projects_.

✨ Goals:

- Encourage _meaningful contributions_ to open source
- Introduce _new contributors_ to OSS
- Reward contributors with _swag, badges & recognition_
- Grow global _developer communities_ 🌐

## 📅 Hacktoberfest 2025 Timeline

## 🛠 How to Participate

### 1️⃣ **Register / Sign Up**

- Visit [Hacktoberfest.com](https://hacktoberfest.com)
- Sign in with GitHub / GitLab
- Start earning your _digital badge_

### 2️⃣ **Find Suitable Projects**

- Only repositories that have opted in (i.e. have the `hacktoberfest` topic) count as eligible.
- Many projects label beginner-friendly issues as **“good first issue”** or **“help wanted”**. These are great for newcomers.
- You can contribute to non-code areas as well: docs, translation, design, writing, tutorials, etc.
- Keep your eyes on Hacktoberfest’s official event listings and community shared project lists.

### 3️⃣ Make PRs

- Fork → Branch → Commit → PR
- Follow repo _CONTRIBUTING.md_
- Use clear _commit messages & PR descriptions_
- Be sure to follow the project’s contribution guidelines
- Engage with maintainers: respond to feedback and revise if needed

### 4️⃣ Get PRs Accepted

✅ Repo must have hacktoberfest topic  
✅ PR should be _merged_ or labeled hacktoberfest-accepted  
✅ Aim for _6 accepted PRs_ in 2025

- Write _clear PR titles & descriptions_
