# Edge Fullscreen Fix

A Microsoft Edge extension that fixes window size restoration after exiting fullscreen mode. This extension addresses a specific bug in Microsoft Edge where the browser window doesn't restore to its previous size when exiting fullscreen.

## The Problem

When using Microsoft Edge with **vertical tabs enabled**, exiting fullscreen mode (F11) causes the browser window to restore to an incorrect size instead of the size it had before entering fullscreen. This extension automatically detects when you enter fullscreen, saves your current window size, and restores it when you exit fullscreen.

## How It Works

The extension continuously monitors your browser window size and fullscreen state:

1. **Before Fullscreen**: The extension tracks and saves your current window size whenever you resize the window
2. **Entering Fullscreen**: When you press F11 or enter fullscreen, the extension locks the saved window size
3. **Exiting Fullscreen**: When you exit fullscreen, the extension automatically restores your window to the size it was before entering fullscreen

The extension works completely automatically - no configuration or user interaction required.

## Installation

1. **Download or Clone** this repository to your local machine

2. **Open Edge Extensions Page**:
   - Navigate to `edge://extensions/` in your Microsoft Edge browser
   - Or go to Menu (three dots) → Extensions → Manage extensions

3. **Enable Developer Mode**:
   - Toggle the "Developer mode" switch in the top-right corner

4. **Load the Extension**:
   - Click "Load unpacked"
   - Select the folder containing this extension

## Usage

The extension works automatically - no configuration needed!

1. **Resize your Edge window** to your preferred size
2. **Enter fullscreen mode** (F11 or any fullscreen method)
3. **Exit fullscreen mode** (F11 again)
4. **Your window will automatically restore** to the size it was before entering fullscreen

## Permissions

This extension requires the following permissions:
- **windows**: To resize browser windows and detect fullscreen state changes
- **tabs**: To communicate with tabs and detect fullscreen changes
- **activeTab**: To access the active tab's fullscreen state

## Notes

- Edge extensions can only resize windows that the extension has access to
- Window resizing may be restricted by Edge's security policies in some cases
- The extension tracks window size continuously, so manual resizing updates the saved state
