# Nice-MD5s

Let’s explore *nice patterns* in MD5 hashes!

> The MD5 message-digest algorithm is a widely used hash function producing a 128-bit digest. ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5))

This is totally nonsensical, but let’s have some fun discovering interesting MD5 patterns.

## Definitions

A *nice pattern* is one of the following:

|:--:|----------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------------|
| 1  | **Perfect match**    | MD5 hash of a single character                                           | `00000000000000000000000000000000`                    |
| 2  | **Nice match**       | MD5 hash that starts with *N* identical characters                       | `444431252d6a104a05fe4a0c6a53a999` (N = 4)            |
| 3  | **Gold MD5**         | MD5 hash that equals the input string                                     | _None found (fixed points)_                           |
| 4  | **Digits-only MD5**  | MD5 hash composed entirely of digits                                      | `25855924411269249612523541155616`                    |
| 5  | **Letters-only MD5** | MD5 hash composed entirely of letters                                     | `abcdefabcdefabcdefabcdefabcdefab`                    |
| 6  | **Pi MD5**           | MD5 hash that begins with the digits of π                                 | `3141592653589793115997963468544185`                  |
| 7  | **e MD5**            | MD5 hash that begins with the digits of *e*                               | `2718281828459045090795598298427649`                  |
| 8  | **Prefix & Suffix**  | MD5 hash that starts and ends with the same *N* characters as the input  | `1234…259a` (N = 4)                                    |
