## Why Nginx GUI 2?

Traditional Nginx GUI tools are **config generators** — they let you fill in a form and generate a configuration file. But what happens when you already have an existing, complex Nginx config? They can't parse it. They can't modify it. They force you to start from scratch.

**Nginx GUI 2 is fundamentally different.** It is a true **configuration manager** that deeply understands Nginx syntax, and it comes with a built-in **AI Agent** that lets anyone perform expert-level Nginx operations — no expertise required:

### AI Agent — Expert-Level Nginx Operations for Everyone

The AI Agent is **not** just a chatbot wrapper. It is a purpose-built agent with real tools that can read your Nginx config, search for patterns, edit specific lines, validate syntax, and control the Nginx service — all driven by natural language.

- **"My site returns 502 after deploying"** — The agent reads your upstream config, identifies the issue, and fixes it.
- **"Add HTTPS with a Let's Encrypt certificate"** — The agent writes the full SSL config, including HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect.
- **"Rate-limit the login endpoint to 5 requests per minute"** — The agent adds `limit_req_zone` and applies it to the right location block.
- **"My config has a syntax error and I don't understand it"** — The agent runs `nginx -t`, reads the error, and corrects the problem.

You don't need to know Nginx syntax. You don't need to know which file to edit. You don't need to memorize directives. **Just describe what you want, and the agent does the rest.**

**How to use:** Go to the "AI Config" page in the sidebar, click the gear icon in the toolbar above the message input, fill in your Base URL, API Key, protocol (OpenAI / Anthropic / OpenAIResponse), and model name, then save. Each user's configuration and conversation session is fully isolated.

## Quick Start

### 1. Pull and Run (Recommended)

## Architecture

Local Mode &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; | &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Remote Mode

- **Local mode** (`NGINX_MODE=local`): Nginx runs inside the container on port 80, serves the Vue SPA and proxies `/api/` to Spring Boot. The app manages container Nginx via local CLI.
- **Remote mode** (`NGINX_MODE=remote`): No Nginx in container. The app SSHes to the remote server to manage Nginx there.
- Both modes support `SSH_SYSTEM_*` variables for the dashboard to SSH to the host and gather system metrics (CPU, memory, disk).
