# Official Notice: Repository Archival (Effective March 11, 2026)

To all contributors, users, and observers of this repository:

This repository will be formally **archived on [March 11, 2026 — one month from posting]**.

The decision to archive is intended to prevent confusion with similarly named efforts and to avoid ambiguity resulting from the absence of ongoing updates. Current IOF research and development is conducted in the [IOF Foundry Organization](https://github.com/iofoundry). Current NCOR developments can be tracked in the [NCOR Network Organization](https://github.com/NCOR-Organization).

Archiving this repository will ensure it remains accessible for historical reference while clearly indicating that it is no longer under active development or maintenance.

# Legacy Readme Follows

## IOF-BFO
A repository for files developed for the Industrial Ontology Foundry.

WARNING: The contents of this repository are under active development and may change radically in the next few months. They are posted here in order to be accessible to the IOF community as they undergo development.

This repository contains:
1. An owl implementation of the IOF's top terms ontology, serialized in Turtle
2. A folder of two BFO artifacts that are imported by this ontology.
3. A folder containing images of the class hierarchy.
4. A SPARQL querying for extracting the classes and their annotations.
