### Open-Source Software for facilitating the materials selection process following the Ashby Methodology

Open-Source Software using Python in order to facilitate the materials selection process used in engineering. This work has been developed by chemical engineering and food engineering students as part of a project in a 1st-year cross-curricular course of "Programming Fundamentals". The developed software allows the selection of different types of materials based on specific characteristics required by the users. Additionally, it enables to visualize charts following the Ashby Methodology. The dataset used in this work contains information of about 5000 different materials, that can be classified as metals, ceramics, polymers, wood & natural materials, pure elements and other engineering materials. This code can be freely modified and reused following the GNU General Public License.

### Software de código abierto para facilitar el proceso de selección de materiales según la metodología de Ashby

Software de código abierto implementado en lenguaje de programación Python que facilita el proceso de selección de materiales empleados en ingeniería. Este trabajo ha sido desarrollado por estudiantes de las carreras en ingeniería química e ingeniería en alimentos, como proyecto de curso de la materia transversal de primer semestre "Fundamentos de Programación". El código desarrollado permite la selección entre distintos tipos de materiales, basándose en características específicas definidas por los usuarios, además el código permite visualizar gráficas indicadas en la metodología desarrollada por Michael Ashby. La base de datos utilizada abarca información de aproximadamente 5000 diferentes materiales que pueden ser clasificados según sus características particulares como metales, cerámicos, polímeros, madera & materiales naturales, elementos puros y otros materiales de ingeniería. El código desarrollado puede ser modificado y reusado libremente bajo la licencia "GNU General Public License".
