## 🚀 Quick Start

### Prerequisites
- Node.js (v16 or higher)
- npm or yarn
- API key from one of the supported AI providers (OpenAI, Gemini, or Cohere)

### Installation

1. Clone the repository
```bash
git clone <repository-url>
cd blind-date-ai
```

2. Install dependencies
```bash
npm install
```

3. Set up your AI API key
```bash
cp .env.example .env
```

Edit the `.env` file and add your API key:
```env
# Choose one of these APIs:
VITE_OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_api_key_here
# OR
VITE_GEMINI_API_KEY=your_gemini_api_key_here  
# OR
VITE_COHERE_API_KEY=your_cohere_api_key_here
```

4. Start the development server
```bash
npm run dev
```

5. Open your browser and navigate to `http://localhost:5173`

## 🔑 Getting API Keys

### OpenAI API
1. Visit [OpenAI Platform](https://platform.openai.com/)
2. Sign up or log in to your account
3. Go to API Keys section
4. Create a new API key
5. Add credits to your account (free tier available)

### Google Gemini API
1. Visit [Google AI Studio](https://makersuite.google.com/app)
2. Sign in with your Google account
3. Create a new API key
4. Copy the key to your `.env` file

### Cohere API
1. Visit [Cohere](https://cohere.com)
2. Sign up for a free account
3. Go to your dashboard
4. Generate an API key
5. Free tier includes generous usage limits

## 🌐 Deployment

### Build for Production
```bash
npm run build
```

### Deploy to Netlify
1. Connect your repository to Netlify
2. Set build command: `npm run build`
3. Set publish directory: `dist`
4. Deploy automatically on push

### Deploy to Vercel
1. Install Vercel CLI: `npm i -g vercel`
2. Run: `vercel`

If no API key is provided, the app falls back to pre-written responses to ensure the game still works.
