A Node library to insert segments from an HLS VOD (e.g. ad) into another HLS VOD.

## Installation

```
npm install --save @eyevinn/hls-splice
```

## Usage

The code below shows an example of how an ad (HLS VOD) is inserted 35 seconds from the start in an HLS VOD.

const hlsVod = new HLSSpliceVod('https://maitv-vod.lab.eyevinn.technology/stswe17-ozer.mp4/master.m3u8');
hlsVod.load()

  return hlsVod.insertAdAt(35000, 'https://maitv-vod.lab.eyevinn.technology/ads/apotea-15s.mp4/master.m3u8');
})
.then(() => {
  const mediaManifest = hlsVod.getMediaManifest(4928000);
  console.log(mediaManifest);
})
```

### Custom fetch implementation

Manifests are fetched with [node-fetch](https://www.npmjs.com/package/node-fetch), which applies no
timeout by default. An origin that accepts a connection but never responds will therefore leave the
returned promise pending indefinitely. Pass `options.fetch` to supply your own implementation and
apply whatever timeout, retry or instrumentation policy you need:

const hlsVod = new HLSSpliceVod('https://.../master.m3u8', {
  fetch: (uri) => fetch(uri, { timeout: 2000 }),
});
```

The implementation is called as `fetch(uri)` and must resolve to an object with `ok`, `status`,
`statusText` and a readable `body`. When omitted, `node-fetch` is used as before.

This example below illustrates what this library does. Consider this HLS VOD:
