The main idea of this card is to show the energy consumption of your devices as a percentage of the **main entity** (your entity for tracking whole **house consumption**).

My electricity meter is a **Sagemcom XT211**, I made a **[custom ESPHome component](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/xt211)** to read data from it (or any other DLMS/COSEM PUSH meter using RS485).

The card is designed to resemble the Home Assistant **Energy panel** style. The **auto color** option will use the colors in the same order as the energy panel.

2. Create a `energy-line-gauge` folder inside your `config/www` folder and place the files in there
3. Include the card code in your `ui-lovelace-card.yaml`

Version 2.0 added a **Visual Editor** to make the configuration easier.
You can find the Card in your Card Selector or by scrolling down to the bottom of the Card Selector and selecting `Manual Card`.
Then you can paste the following code into the Card Editor:

Some features are not yet available in the Visual Editor. For example the ability to set `min` and `max` to be an entity or color `auto`.

### Types

## Entities

The only required field is `entity`. The rest of the fields are optional. Color `auto` can only be set in the YAML file (or it will be set to `auto` by default when creating the card).

You can set the `entity` to `none`, `null` or `undefined` to create a "spacer" to "consume" an automatic color (I had a unique "gap" in my HA energy panel colors - the color index skipped a color).

#### Each entity has its own settings:

## Colors

The color configuration has been through a lot of changes in the past. The current version is very flexible and allows you to set the color of each entity separately, as well as the text color in the line and legend. The automatic color option is also available, which will use the same colors as the Home Assistant Energy panel.

This card has a custom color selector that has been added in [v2.2.6](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/releases/tag/v2.2.6).

It allows to select from Home Assistant color variables, custom RGB color or any CSS color string. It accepts any string that is a valid CSS color, for example `red`, `#ff0000`, `rgb(255, 0, 0)`, `var(--my-color)` and so on.

### Linear Gradient

One very powerful configuration option is the ability to set a linear gradient as the color of the main line, background or entity.

You could set the main line to be an accent tick at the end.

## State Content

The state content is the text displayed in the legend and the line. You can choose what to display and in which order.  The order in the config matters. The text will be separated by `state_content_separator` config option.

The position of the text in the line is set by `line_text_position`. Options are `left`, `right`, `none`, `center`, `top-left`, `top-right`, `top-center`, `bottom-left`, `bottom-right`, `bottom-center`.

## Offset

Added in [v2.1.6](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/releases/tag/v2.1.6). Feature request [#3](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/issues/3) (see for more info).

The offset is the time into the past that the state will be displayed. The offset is in seconds, minutes or days. It has to be a **whole positive number**. Examples `1d`, `80s`, `60m` or `2h`.

The recommended *minimum* is 60 seconds, use a lower number at your own risk. Lower numbers mean more requests to the recorder. The maximum offset depends on your recorder settings. The default is 10 days. If you want to use a higher number, you have to change the `purge_keep_days` setting in your recorder settings.

## Statistics

Added in [v2.1.7](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/releases/tag/v2.1.7). Feature request [#3](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/issues/3) (see for more info).

Home Assistant calculates the statistical data. The `statistics-graph` card uses the same API, hence why this card has similar configuration. The statistics will be displayed instead of the current state.  The `start_time` is 00:00:00 of the day. The `end_time` is 23:59:59 of the day.

The statistics only support `sensors` with state_class of `measurement`, `total` or `total_increasing`.

- `statistics` is a boolean. If set to true, the card will display the statistics instead of the current state.

- `statistics_day_offset` is the number of days into the past. It has to be a whole positive integer. The default is 1 day.

- `statistics_period` is the period on which the statistics are calculated (the average of the whole day or each hour). The default is `hour`. The options are `5minute`, `hour`, `day`, `week`, `month`.

- `statistics_function` is the function used to calculate the statistics. The default is `mean`. The options are `change`, `max`, `mean`, `min`, `state`, `sum`.

Some entities only support `mean`, `min` and `max` (For example `sensor.plug_1_power` - state_class: measurement). And some entities only support `change`, `state` and `sum` (For example `sensor.plug_1_summitation_delivered` - state_class: total). A warning will be shown if the entity does not support the selected function: `No statistics found.`.

## Line Separators

Added in [v2.2.4](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/releases/tag/v2.2.4). Feature request [#14](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/issues/14).

You can add gaps between segments in the line. The gaps can be customized with `line_separator_width` and `line_separator_color`.

- `total020` → `total100` (2% - 10% of the total line width)
- `each002` → `each020` (0.2% - 2% of each segment width)

The following fields support templating: `title`, `subtitle`, `unit`, `untracked_legend_label`, entity `name`, entity `unit`.

## Sorting Entities

You can sort the entities in the legend and line by using the `sorting` configuration option. The options are:
- `alpha-asc` - Sort entities alphabetically in ascending order (A-Z) based on their names.
- `alpha-desc` - Sort entities alphabetically in descending order (Z-A) based on their names.
- `value-asc` - Sort entities by their values (current, statistical or historical) from lowest to highest.
- `value-desc` - Sort entities by their values (current, statistical or historical) from highest to lowest.
- `none` - No sorting, display entities in the order they are defined in the configuration.

## Severity

Added in [v2.2.8](https://github.com/Tomer27cz/energy-line-gauge/releases/tag/v2.2.8).

You can set the color of the main line based on the value of the entity. The colors will show only if `severity: true`

The colors and levels are defined in the `severity_levels` configuration option. Each level has a color and a "from" value. The "from" value is the minimum value for that level. The levels are evaluated from highest to lowest, meaning that if the value is above the "from" value of a level, that level's color will be used if there is not a level with a higher value.

```yaml
color: red
severity: true
severity_levels:
  - from: 10
    color: orange
  - from: 20
    color: yellow
  - from: 30
    color: green
```

- The base color is `red`. 
- From `10` to `20` the color will be `orange`.
- From `20` to `30` the color will be `yellow`.
- From `30` and above the color will be `green`.

`severity_blend: true` - Blending is supported when the value is between two levels. The color will be a blend of the two levels based on the value's position between the two levels. RGB interpolation is used.
