# Repo Under Construction

## Project Goals

1. Open source software to enable anyone to control a vehicle with the Steam Deck (using WiFi, Bluetooth, a wire, or other self-developed means).
2. Build instructions for DIY radio options to allow anyone to build their own fully functional long-range digital drone (Ubiquiti gear, ESP chips, [Drone Bridge](https://github.com/DroneBridge/DroneBridge), RFD + 5.8 GHz vRX).
3. Support for commercially developed versions for industrial drone customers using COTS radios ([Doodle Labs](https://uaxtech.com/products/deck-rc), Silvus, Persistent Systems, Microhard).
4. An easy to build low cost version if the right radio can be found.

## Version History

**v1**
   - Simple script to install dependencies required to run QGC with full video
   - Instructions to run QGC
   - Instructions to setup joystick using Steam or using sc-controller

## Compatibility

Currently compatible with any aircraft that uses the Mavlink protocol and can be connected to wirelessly. Some aircraft like the SkyviperV2450 can be connected to directly using built-in wifi for video and controls. Other aircraft may need a radio module or adapter to communicate wirelessly.

## Radio Modules

The Steam Deck can supply 7.5W from the USB port. With that power budget in mind, a prototype module using a Doodle Labs NanoOEM radio has been made and tested to over 1km (ran out of room at the field). More details and radio module development is planned.
