# Chessalyzer

A JavaScript library for batch-analyzing chess PGN files — parse games, replay moves, and collect statistics with modular trackers.

> **Previously published as [`chessalyzer.js`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/chessalyzer.js)** through v3. From v4 onward the package name is `chessalyzer`.

- Zero-dependency chess analysis and PGN parsing toolkit
- Batch process PGN files and track statistics of your games
- Filter games (e.g. only analyze games where WhiteElo > 1800)
- Fully modular, track only the statistics you need

- Standalone fast PGN parser with sync and async streaming mode
- Handles big files easily

## Installation

```sh
npm install chessalyzer
```

Requires any JavaScript runtime, Node.js ≥ 22 or Bun recommended.

## Getting started

```typescript
import { analyzePGN } from 'chessalyzer';
import {
    tileTracker,
    generateHeatmap,
    TileHeatmapPresets,
    printHeatmap,
} from 'chessalyzer/trackers';

const tiles = tileTracker();

await analyzePGN('<pathToPgnFile>', { trackers: [tiles] });

const heatmap = generateHeatmap(tiles.state, TileHeatmapPresets.TILE_OCC_ALL);

printHeatmap(heatmap);
```
