# Installation Guide

1. Get the code
git clone https://github.com/plotly/jupyterlab-dash

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd jupyterlab-dash

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Node.js

Easy Recommended
Prerequisites
  • Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
  • Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.
$ npm install # or yarn

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

$ npm run build # or yarn build

Builds optimized production files.

$ npm run build

Builds optimized production files.

$ npm run watch # or yarn watch

Type this command into your terminal and run it.

βœ… After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

3. Python

Easy
Prerequisites
  • Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
  • Python 3 On Windows, be sure to check 'Add Python to PATH' during installation.
$ pip install "jupyterlab>=1.0" jupyterlab-dash==0.1.0a3

Installs the Python libraries listed in requirements.txt (or similar).

$ jupyter labextension install jupyterlab-dash@0.1.0-alpha.3

Type this command into your terminal and run it.

$ pip install -e .

Installs the Python libraries listed in requirements.txt (or similar).

$ jupyter labextension link .

Type this command into your terminal and run it.

$ jupyter lab build

Type this command into your terminal and run it.
