# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/briandesousa/firebase-with-react-hooks

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd firebase-with-react-hooks

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Node.js

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.

npm install

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

npm start

Starts the development/run server.

✅ After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

# React Hooks and Firebase Demo - Live Grocery List

The Live Grocery List app is a demonstration of using React Hooks to manage app state that is backed by a Firebase firestore backend. This app demonstrates using building in React hooks as well as custom hooks.

## Setup

This application uses Firebase services. Configuration required to connect to Firebase is defined in the [.env](.env) file (or .env.local) in the root of this repository.

Before building or running the app, you must add your Firebase project configuration. Configuration can be obtained from *Project Settings* in your Firebase project at [https://console.firebase.google.com](https://console.firebase.google.com).

## Available Scripts

In the project directory, you can run:

`npm start` to run the app in development mode
`npm test` to launch the test runner in interactive watch mode
`npm run build` to bundle the app for production
`npm run eject` to eject React Scripts dependency
