# Asteroid Annihilator 🚀☄️

A retro-futuristic arcade game where you pilot a spaceship through a dangerous asteroid field. Your mission: survive as long as possible by dodging and destroying asteroids and their fragments!

## 🌟 Features

* **Retro-Futuristic Visuals:** Styled entirely with HTML and CSS for a classic arcade feel.
* **Dynamic Spaceship:** Animated propellant flames react to your movement.
* **Parallax Starfield:** Scrolling background creates a sense of depth.
* **Destructible Asteroids:** Varying sizes, speeds, and rotations. Destroyed asteroids break into smaller, equally dangerous fragments.
* **Laser Combat:** Shoot lasers with a cooldown and visual recharge indicator.
* **Responsive Controls:** Play with keyboard on desktop or on-screen touch controls on mobile.
* **Lives & Scoring:** Track your performance with a classic lives system and score counter. Higher points for larger asteroids.
* **Increasing Difficulty:** The asteroid onslaught becomes faster and more frequent over time.
* **Game Over & Restart:** See your final score and jump back into the action.
* **Hyperspace Jump (Bonus):** Teleport randomly to escape tight spots, but beware of rare malfunctions!

## 🎮 Controls

### Desktop (Keyboard)
* **Move Up:** `ArrowUp` or `W`
* **Move Down:** `ArrowDown` or `S`
* **Move Left:** `ArrowLeft` or `A`
* **Move Right:** `ArrowRight` or `D`
* **Shoot Laser:** `Spacebar`
* **Activate Hyperspace:** `H`

### Mobile (On-Screen Touch Controls)
* **D-Pad (Bottom Left):**
    * `▲`: Move Up
    * `▼`: Move Down
    * `◀`: Move Left
    * `▶`: Move Right
* **Action Buttons (Bottom Right):**
    * `SHOOT`: Fire laser
    * `HYPER`: Activate Hyperspace

## 🛠️ Tech Stack

* **HTML5:** For the basic structure and game elements.
* **CSS3:** For all styling, animations (rotations, propellant), and retro-futuristic design, including responsive layout for mobile.
* **JavaScript (ES6+):** For all game logic, including:
    * Game loop and physics
    * Player controls (keyboard and touch)
    * Collision detection
    * Entity management (spaceship, asteroids, lasers)
    * UI updates
    * Difficulty scaling

## 🚀 How to Play Locally

1.  **Clone the repository (or download the files):**
    ```bash

    cd your-project-directory
    ```
    (Replace `https://your-github-repo-link-here.git` with the actual link to your repository once you've created it.)
    Alternatively, download the `index.html`, `style.css`, and `script.js` files into the same folder.

2.  **Open `index.html`:**
    Navigate to the directory where you saved the files and open the `index.html` file in your web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).

3.  **Enjoy the game!**

No special build steps or dependencies are required.

## ✨ Future Enhancements (Ideas)

* **Power-ups:** Temporary shield, rapid-fire, spread shot, etc.
* **Different Asteroid Types:** Some might be harder to destroy or have unique behaviors.
* **Enemy Ships:** Introduce AI-controlled enemies that shoot back.
* **Boss Battles:** Large, challenging asteroids or enemy ships at certain score milestones.
* **Sound Effects & Music:** Add retro sound effects for lasers, explosions, and background music.
* **High Score Table:** Store and display high scores using local storage.
* **More Advanced Graphics:** While keeping the CSS-only theme, explore more complex shapes or effects.
