The Simple is a theme for Obsidian that prioritizes reading and writing.

It has minimal customizations and a simple design to avoid distractions and noise while taking notes and writing long-form texts.

# About Simple

The Simple theme aims to provide a clean and comfortable environment for writing and note-taking, with a focus on legibility and ease of use. It features a simple color scheme, easy-to-read fonts, and a streamlined interface to help users stay focused on their writing.

The theme have simple customizable settings, so users can adjust it to their liking while still maintaining its minimalist design. Overall, the Simple theme is a great choice for those who value simplicity and functionality in their writing tools.

## How to install

1. Open the **Settings** in Obsidian;
1. Navigate to **Appearance** tab;
1. Under the **Themes** section, click on the `Manage` button across from **Themes**
1. Search for `Simple` in the Search field text
1. Click `Use` and then you're done! 🎉

## Dark, Light and Dark Sidebar options

With the light version, do you have a beautiful dark version. Actually, we provide a third option where you can have only the sidebar in a dark version.

You can enable and disable the sidebar dark version in Style Settings:

## Beautiful typograph

Great readability for both reading and writing, designed for everyone who loves to write and take notes on their most important subjects.

You can choose between *Inter*, *IBM Plex* and *iA Writer Quattro* fonts.

## Style Settings

We will always be adding new customization options, but we will always prioritize essentialism. To that end, we support the Style Settings plugin, which enables customization options for you.

Here are the steps to install it in your Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=obsidian-style-settings).

### Editor layout order

Use the **Define the order of elements in content space** setting group to rearrange the vertical order of core elements inside the editor:

- **Properties metadata (YAML)** – default order `1`
- **Inline Title (filename)** – default order `2`
- **Content** – default order `3`
- **Embedded backlinks** – default order `4`

Each control accepts numeric values. Lower numbers appear first, so you can quickly move the inline title below the properties panel when Obsidian's inline titles are enabled, keeping metadata visible before the note body.

## Checklists styles
Simple supports a wide number of alternate checkbox types. These allow you to call out tasks that are incomplete, canceled, rescheduled, etc. See below for availale checkbox types.
