# Veo3 API Proxy

A Google Cloud Function that provides a secure proxy to the Veo3 video generation API with usage tracking and cloud storage.

## Overview

This service wraps the Google Veo3 API to:
- Protect your API key from client-side exposure
- Track usage by email and tenant
- Automatically upload generated videos to Google Cloud Storage
- Log all requests and results to Supabase

## API Endpoint

Once deployed, your function will be available at:
```
https://[REGION]-[PROJECT_ID].cloudfunctions.net/veo-proxy
```

## API Usage

### Request

**Method:** `POST`  
**Content-Type:** `application/json`

#### Request Body

#### Tier Options

- **`fast`**: Uses `veo-3.0-fast-generate-preview` model - Faster generation, potentially lower quality
- **`normal`**: Uses `veo-3.0-generate-preview` model - Standard generation time, higher quality

## Database Tracking

All requests are logged to the Supabase `video_generations` table with the following information:

|--------|-------------|
| `id` | Unique identifier for the generation request |
| `email` | User's email address |
| `tenant` | Tenant identifier |
| `tier` | Selected generation tier (fast/normal) |
| `prompt` | The video generation prompt |
| `operation_name` | Veo3 API operation identifier |
| `video_url` | Final Google Cloud Storage URL |
| `status` | Generation status (pending/processing/completed/failed) |
| `created_at` | Request timestamp |
| `completed_at` | Completion timestamp |
| `error_message` | Error details if generation failed |

## Rate Limiting & Timeouts

- **Function Timeout:** 9 minutes maximum
- **Polling Interval:** Checks generation status every 10 seconds
- **Max Polling Time:** 8 minutes (leaves 1 minute buffer)

## CORS Support

The API supports CORS for browser-based requests. Preflight OPTIONS requests are handled automatically.

## Deployment

### Prerequisites

1. Google Cloud Project with billing enabled
2. Supabase project with `video_generations` table
3. Node.js 18+ installed locally
4. gcloud CLI installed and configured

### Quick Deploy

1. Clone the repository
2. Copy `.env.example` to `.env` and fill in your credentials
3. Run the deployment script:

## Security Considerations

- API key is stored server-side only, never exposed to clients
- All requests are logged for audit purposes
- Consider implementing additional authentication/authorization as needed
- Monitor usage through Supabase to prevent abuse

## Troubleshooting

### Video generation times out
- Normal tier videos can take several minutes to generate
- Consider using the "fast" tier for quicker results
- Check Cloud Function logs for detailed error messages

### Storage permissions error
- Ensure the Cloud Function service account has write access to the GCS bucket
- Verify bucket exists and is in the same project

### Database connection issues
- Verify Supabase URL and anon key are correct
- Check that the `video_generations` table exists with the correct schema
