# Installation Guide

1. Get the code
git clone https://github.com/wasmerio/wasmer

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd wasmer

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Official Install Script

Easy Recommended
Prerequisites
  • Homebrew A package manager for macOS/Linux.
  • Scoop A package manager for Windows.
  • Chocolatey A package manager for Windows.
curl https://get.wasmer.io -sSfL | sh

Downloads and runs the official install script in one line β€” this handles the full setup automatically.

brew install wasmer

Installs the pre-built package via Homebrew β€” no source build required.

scoop install wasmer

Installs directly via Scoop (Windows).

choco install wasmer

Installs directly via Chocolatey (Windows).

βœ… After installing, open a new terminal and run the program's version command (e.g. --version) to confirm it worked.

3. Rust
