## Quickstart

### Docker

### Gentoo

An ebuild is provided in [`packaging/gentoo`](packaging/gentoo). Register it as a
local overlay and emerge `net-analyzer/portsentry`:

Use `USE="systemd"` to install the systemd unit, or `USE="-pcap"` to build
against Linux raw sockets instead of libpcap. See
[`packaging/gentoo/README.md`](packaging/gentoo/README.md) for details.

### Other Linux distributions

Download the portsentry tar archive from the [Releases page](https://github.com/portsentry/portsentry/releases) and extract the tarball in the root directory:

sudo tar --strip-components=1 -C / -xvf portsentry-*.tar.xz
```

### *BSD

OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD are supported but must currently be compiled manually, see below
