🚀 Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/DmytroVasin/DrawPen

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd DrawPen

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Official Install Script

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

Homebrew A package manager for macOS/Linux.
Scoop A package manager for Windows.

brew install --cask drawpen

Installs the pre-built package via Homebrew — no source build required.

scoop install extras/drawpen

Installs directly via Scoop (Windows).

✅ After installing, open a new terminal and run the program's version command (e.g. --version) to confirm it worked.

3. Node.js

Easy

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.

npm install

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

npm start

Starts the development/run server.

✅ After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

### Installation

You can download DrawPen for **free** from [releases](https://github.com/DmytroVasin/DrawPen/releases)

Or install via **package managers**:

```bash
# macOS (Homebrew)
brew install --cask drawpen

# Windows (Scoop)
scoop bucket add extras
scoop install extras/drawpen
```

### Known issues

On some Linux setups running **Wayland** (e.g. [Fedora KDE Plasma](https://github.com/DmytroVasin/DrawPen/issues/82), [Zorin](https://github.com/DmytroVasin/DrawPen/issues/81)), DrawPen may start with a **segmentation fault**. #### Workaround:

- Run DrawPen with X11 backend: `drawpen --ozone-platform=x11`
- Use DrawPen `drawpen-x11` package available in [releases](https://github.com/DmytroVasin/DrawPen/releases/latest/)
