# PrepTrack - Interview Questions Tracker

A modern, interactive web application to track your progress on company-specific coding interview questions. Features a beautiful dark theme with glassmorphism effects, progress tracking, and automatic git update support.

## Quick Start

### Prerequisites

- Python 3.x installed on your system
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)

### Running the Tracker

1. **Navigate to the directory:**
   ```bash
   cd d:\Leetcode-premium
   ```

2. **Start the local HTTP server:**
   ```bash
   python -m http.server 8000
   ```
   
   You should see output like:
   ```
   Serving HTTP on :: port 8000 (http://[::]:8000/) ...
   ```

3. **Open the tracker in your browser:**
   - Go to: **http://localhost:8000/index.html**
   - Or click this link: [http://localhost:8000/index.html](http://localhost:8000/index.html)

4. **Start tracking!**
   - Select a company from the dropdown
   - Choose a frequency period
   - Check off questions as you complete them

### Stopping the Server

When you're done using the tracker:
- Press `Ctrl+C` in the terminal/command prompt to stop the server

## Usage Guide

### Selecting Questions

1. **Choose a Company**: Select from 666+ companies in the dropdown
2. **Filter by Frequency**: Click on time period buttons (30 Days, 3 Months, etc.)
3. **Search**: Type in the search box to filter by question name or ID

### Tracking Progress

- ✅ **Check a question**: Click the checkbox next to any question
- 📈 **View progress**: See your completion percentage in the progress bar
- 💾 **Auto-save**: Your progress is automatically saved to your browser
- 🔄 **Persistent**: Progress remains even after closing the browser

### Opening Questions

- Click on any question title to open it on LeetCode in a new tab

## Updating from Git Repository

When the repository is updated with new companies or questions, follow these steps to sync your tracker:

### Step-by-Step Update Process

1. **Stop the HTTP server** (if running):
   - Press `Ctrl+C` in the terminal

2. **Navigate to the repository directory:**
   ```bash
   cd d:\Leetcode-premium\leetcode-companywise-interview-questions
   ```

3. **Pull the latest changes from git:**
   ```bash
   git pull origin main
   ```
   
   Or if you're using a different branch:
   ```bash
   git pull origin <branch-name>
   ```

4. **Go back to the parent directory:**
   ```bash
   cd ..
   ```
   
   (You should now be in `d:\Leetcode-premium`)

5. **Regenerate the company list:**
   ```bash
   python generate-companies.py
   ```
   
   You should see:
   ```
   Generated companies.js with 666 companies
   File saved to: D:\Leetcode-premium\companies.js
   ```

6. **Restart the HTTP server:**
   ```bash
   python -m http.server 8000
   ```

7. **Refresh the tracker in your browser:**
   - Press `Ctrl+R` or `F5`
   - Or close and reopen: http://localhost:8000/index.html

### What Gets Updated?

✅ **New companies** - Automatically appear in the dropdown  
✅ **New questions** - Show up as unchecked in the table  
✅ **Updated questions** - Changes to difficulty, acceptance rate, etc.  
✅ **Frequency data** - Updated question frequencies

### What Stays the Same?

💾 **Your progress** - All checked questions remain checked  
💾 **localStorage data** - Progress is preserved across updates

### Quick Update Script (Optional)

You can create a batch file to automate the update process:

**update-tracker.bat:**
```batch
@echo off
echo Updating LeetCode Tracker...
cd d:\Leetcode-premium\leetcode-companywise-interview-questions
git pull origin main
cd ..
python generate-companies.py
echo.
echo Update complete! Restart the server with: python -m http.server 8000
pause
```

Save this file as `update-tracker.bat` in `d:\Leetcode-premium\` and double-click to run it.

## Troubleshooting

### "Error loading questions" message

**Problem**: Browser shows CORS error when loading CSV files  
**Solution**: Make sure you're accessing the tracker through the HTTP server at `http://localhost:8000/index.html`, NOT by opening the HTML file directly (file://)

### Companies not loading

**Problem**: Dropdown shows "Error loading companies"  
**Solution**: Run `python generate-companies.py` to generate the companies list

### Progress not saving

**Problem**: Checkboxes don't stay checked after refresh  
**Solution**: 
- Make sure you're using the same URL (http://localhost:8000/index.html)
- Check if localStorage is enabled in your browser
- Private/Incognito mode may disable localStorage

### Port 8000 already in use

**Problem**: Error message "Address already in use"  
**Solution**: Use a different port:
```bash
python -m http.server 8080
```
Then access at: http://localhost:8080/index.html

## Tips & Tricks

💡 **Keyboard Shortcuts**:
- `Ctrl+F` - Quick search in browser
- `Ctrl+R` - Refresh page
- `Ctrl+Click` on question - Open in new tab

💡 **Best Practices**:
- Focus on one company at a time
- Start with "30 Days" filter for recent questions
- Use search to find specific topics (e.g., "binary tree", "dynamic programming")

💡 **Progress Strategy**:
- Check off questions after solving them
- Review unchecked questions periodically
- Track your progress percentage per company
