## 🚀 Quick Start

### Prerequisites
- Node.js (v14 or higher)
- MongoDB Atlas account (free tier available)
- npm or yarn

### Installation

1. **Clone and install dependencies:**
```bash
npm run install-all
```

2. **Set up MongoDB Atlas:**
   - Go to https://www.mongodb.com/cloud/atlas
   - Create a free account
   - Create a new cluster
   - Get your connection string
   - Update `ecommerce-server/.env`:
     ```
     MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_atlas_connection_string
     ```

3. **Seed the database with sample products:**
```bash
# Start the server first
npm run server

# Then in another terminal, seed the database:
curl -X POST http://localhost:5000/api/seed
```

4. **Run the application:**
```bash
npm run dev
```

This starts:
- Backend: http://localhost:5000
- Frontend: http://localhost:3000

- `GET /api/products` - Get all products (with filters)

- `GET /api/products/:id` - Get single product
- `POST /api/products` - Create product (admin)

- `GET /api/orders/myorders/:userId` - Get user orders
- `GET /api/orders/:id` - Get order by ID
- `PUT /api/orders/:id/pay` - Update order to paid
- `GET /api/orders` - Get all orders (admin)

- `GET /api/health` - Health check
- `POST /api/seed` - Seed database with sample products

## 🌐 Deployment to Vercel

### Automatic Deployment

1. **Install Vercel CLI:**
```bash
npm install -g vercel
```

2. **Login to Vercel:**
```bash
vercel login
```

3. **Deploy:**
```bash
vercel --prod
```

### Environment Variables

Set these in Vercel dashboard:
- `MONGODB_URI` - Your MongoDB Atlas connection string
- `JWT_SECRET` - Your JWT secret key
- `NODE_ENV` - production

### Manual Deployment Steps

1. Push code to GitHub
2. Import project in Vercel dashboard
3. Add environment variables
4. Deploy!
