# Claude Code PM Starter

A ready-to-use Claude Code workspace for product managers. Download it, run one setup skill, and you have an organized system that remembers your company, your product, your users, and your preferences across every session.

## How to start

Six steps, each shown on screen in [the article](https://www.theaithinker.com/p/how-to-organize-claude-code-for-product):

1. **Install [VS Code](https://code.visualstudio.com)** (free). You won't write code in it; its left panel shows your files while you work.
2. **Download this workspace:** green `Code` button above, then `Download ZIP`. Unzip it where you keep your work.
3. **Open the folder in VS Code** (`File > Open Folder`), open the terminal inside it (`Terminal > New Terminal`, move it to the right), install [Claude Code](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/quickstart) if you don't have it, then type `claude`.
4. **Say hello, then learn the basics:** talk to Claude in plain language, try `/model`, `/effort`, `/mcp`, and `/plugins`, and cycle the three modes with `Shift+Tab`.
5. **Run `/setup-workspace`.** It interviews you and fills in the context files; paste links (your product's site, a Confluence page) instead of typing answers.
6. **Give it a real task:** try `/status-update`, or ask for a first draft of something you owe someone.

## The principles

The structure encodes one rule above all: **if you've said it twice, it belongs in a file.** The six practices behind it (use it for every task, sort files by how fast they change, let Claude keep the map, turn repeated work into skills, file every correction once, ask before you assume) are explained in [the article](https://www.theaithinker.com/p/how-to-organize-claude-code-for-product).

## Make it yours

Everything here is a starting point. Rename the example project, rewrite the templates in your own words, delete what you don't use, and add a skill whenever a piece of work repeats. The workspace should grow one correction at a time.
